The Tiger Is Looking To Come Back

There have been news articles lately that speculated about the Tiger’s comeback and whether he could still stir up interest among people.

With his long absence from the courses due to health problems that seem to persist, Tiger Woods has been a name that many were losing interest in, his name being associated to the legendary players of the yester years. However, there has been a recent announcement that might indicate that he still might stage a comeback.

The Masters was concluded recently which Tiger Woods simply sat out. That aborted possibility of his comeback which was attributed to his back problems. However, Notah Begay, who is an unofficial spokesman and a good friend of Tiger, states that he would be looking at playing the US Open this year at Erin Hills though he sat out the Masters. Woods was out of the last five major tournaments due to his ailments.

He last appeared at the Masters in 2015 where he closed at the 17th position. Many wonder whether the US Open would be the best choice for a comeback as the course and competition is punishing and physically challenging.

Indeed the last six times he played at the Opens he ended up tied to 12th, 32nd, 21st and 4th position as well as a cut. However, it should not be forgotten that he did have his major win at the US Open in 2008 that was held at Torrey Pines. Hence he might look at recreating that.

However, after nearly nine years have passed and with ailing health, it would certainly be too optimistic to expect him to perform as well as he did in 2008. As per his own words, he is still getting his back rehabilitated and would be putting in efforts to come back in the game as soon as he is fit.

Overview Of Cap 8 Championship

Broughton boys did not have any trouble as they dominated Cap 8 Conference golf throughout the year.

The Caps finished their usual season with a sense of pride. It was led by Peter Fountain from freshman, and Broughton showed their performance with a 145 shot to beat 2nd place Heritage at Wildwood Green by 15 strokes. The game was completed with a feast of victory in all 8 conference matches in this season. Senior Jumbo Stanley and Junior Patrick Carlin both shot 36 for the Caps. Cannon Jones and Biggs Hawley had a record of 39 each.

Anderson Marlowe, the coach of Broughton said that their top 12 players have the ability of defeating anyone in the state. The team is good and always in good spirits to knock each other out. The coach feels proud of their accomplishment till now in this season. Sam Callahan and Chris Craddock were both at 38 for Heritage and it shot the 160 to compete in a good runner up spot. The 3rd position was achieved by Enloe with 167. The 4th position was finished by Leesville Road at 168.

David Sykes, the coach of Heritage said that the team was good, although they were slightly below average. They got the best conference and wish to play with Broughton every week. As per him, Broughton are contenders as far as the state championship is concerned and they have got members that would be college golfers. However, the team has an excellent team of high school golfers. The fifth position was finished by Wake Forest at 174 and was followed in 182 by Wakefield. Host Sanderson finished at 192 while Millbrook finished at 88. The finishing of 3rd place from Enloe did leave the Eagles in 4th place in the season standings behind Leesville and a rare berth was given by Heritage in the 4A Mideast Regional in Clayton on 1st of May.

WOODS NOT TOO OLD TO ADD SOME MORE VICTORIES

Just few days ago in the Hero World Challenge which ended with 24-year old Matsuyama emerging winner, Woods Caddie, Joe LaCava said: “You never know what’s going to happen, but he looks good walking, he looks good over the ball, and he looks good when he’s done playing, so those are all positives.”

However, if Woods plans to challenge the millennial, he has to put in more effort and work harder.

The winner of the Hero World Challenge, 23-year old Jordan Spieth who finished this year tied for sixth, was of the notion that the next step forward for Woods would have to be to play back to back in the upcoming tournaments just like he did during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.

However, for now, Woods hopes to play a full schedule in 2017, which for him means 15 to 20 events, and he plans to be smart about it.

Woods next competitive start should come next month, either in the PGA Tour stop in San Diego, or the United Arab Emirates, which would be his first full-field event with a cut since August 2015.

Woods will be clocking 41 years old later this December, and he is not too old to add some more victories to his 79 PGA Tour victories, considering that this year’s British Open was won by Henrik Stenson three months after he (Stenson) had clocked 40, while in August, 46 year old Jim Furyk had carded a 58.

However, winning nine times in a season is something that’s quite unimaginable for now and Henrik Stenson had said,
“I think it would be hard, where golf is at right now, to be as dominant as Tiger was, even if Tiger were to play as good as he did in 2000.”

Will Anthony Kim Return To Golf?

Since his injury in thumb Kim has not been seen playing any tournament even the PGA tour.

However, his fans are still hoping to see him once again ground to show his amazing shorts. So, the question is will Anthony Kim return to golf? Well, no one has a clear answer to this. In a recent interview with Larry Bohannan, whether Kim will be back to game gain? On the question he said, I had no opportunity to interview Kim and thus I can’t say anything about it.

Kim had injuries in his thumb and his Achilles tendon did not allow him to participate in the 2012 PGA tour. Though he didn’t participate in a tournament, but then he hasn’t played any game even after that. For four years, Kim has not been spotted playing golf. The fans of Kim and golf particularly the Coachella Valley, where Kim started his golf wants to know whether he will be seen next on the ground or not.

According to sources the insurance policies that Kim wants to use for his treatment, will kick only if Kim will not play golf again. This could be one reason why people associated with the game are presuming that he will not be playing golf again.

Three time winner on tour and member of Ryder cup Kim is a great player who loves playing golf. The largest fan base of Kim is waiting for Kim to make a comeback and play game the way he used to. No appearance of Kim in the game is making his fan think negative about him.

No one knows the time, maybe Kim is in the mood of giving surprise entry in game after a long time or it could be possible that he will never return to the game of golf.

Dustin Relaxes After Missing PGA Cut

One of the biggest names in the golfing circle to miss the 2016 PGA tour championship cut that is currently being played in New Jersey is Dustin Johnson.

He is facing an early exit in the Baltusrol Golf Club event in New Jersey. He had his worst round for the past few months. But, this has not deterred him and went out for having a gala dinner with friend J.R Smith and Jewel Harris.
This news was posted by the Cleveland Cavaliers guard on his Twitter page and his tweet also mentioned that he will be having dinner with pal DJ and his wife Paulina Gretzky. There is no doubt that Johnson would have had a very good time with his close friends after a forgetful opening 77 at the New Jersey PGA championship.

Justin has a good time lately by winning the US Open, his first major title. He did not win the next major at Royal Troon and decided to shave off his beard. He had high hopes of winning this week’s PGA championship and that is why he had shaved off his beard. Johnson hopes of leaving the PGA championship with a world number 1 ranking will not materialize.

The friendship between J.R. and DJ was clearly visible when Smith showed up at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational golf course and had some entertaining time with his friend. He had spent some time with Johnson after winning the NBA championship. Smith also used the driver of Dustin Johnson to hit a few balls at the Firestone range. The camaraderie between the two players was there to see for everyone.

This could be one of the reasons why Johnson headed out to have a good time with his friend in order to forget his worst day at the golf course.

Houston no problem for lefty Phil Mickelson

Registering a great score when you are not really playing your best game is quite an art.

And, Rory McIlroy is just starting to learn that. Still, he is quite not the master and if he looks to pull on that famous green jacket at next week’s Augusta National, he might begin looking at Phil Mickelson’s build-up to the season’s first major.

The forty-five year old lefty has won 3 Masters titles since the year 2004. While form the week before has not always meant a lot – he was tenth in BellSouth Classic in the year 2004, won that event before his 2nd Masters win in the year 2006, and ended thirty-fifty in Houston before winning his 3rd Masters — it has been a useful event for sweeping away those cobwebs as well as settling nerves.

When Tiger Woods never took part in golf a week before the Masters, he won 4 jackets, 4 of the past 7 champions played in Shell Houston Open warm-up that includes Jordan Spieth previous year. McIlroy is now at his Florida home working on his game. However, a lot of the top contenders for the first major are actually in Texas, headed by Mickelson, Spieth, Rickie Fowler and Henrik Stenson.

Ireland’s Pádraig Harrington and Shane Lowry were also among the later beginners. Mickelson started with a 3 under par sixty-nine and when that left him 4 shots behind early leaders Roberto Castro, and Dustin Johnson, he was quite happy with his beginning at Golf Club of Houston. Mickelson told that the great thing for him, his bad rounds now are honorable.

Graeme McDowell wants French Open hat trick

Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell has confirmed that he will indeed be making a return to the Le Golf National Course in Versailles, France in July as he bids to become only the second golfer in the history of the game to win the event three times in a row.

The French Open tees off on the 2nd of July and will conclude on the 5th and McDowell will be hoping to emulate the achievements the one man whose name has entered into the folklore of the French Open – Marcel Dallemagne of France, who won the title three times on the bounce.

Dallemagne won the 1936 event at Saint-Germain before following it up with two more wins the following two seasons at Saint-Cloud and Fourqueux respectively.

Speaking at a press conference, McDowell stated that it is quite obvious that he will be back to defend his title. He went on to add that an added bonus would be being able to win the title for the third successive time and do something that has not been done in the past 70 years.

Graeme McDowell triumphed in 2013 and 2014 and he is the bookies’ favourite to retain the title and rewrite history.

McDowell pounced late last year to secure the title which saw a dramatic collapse in the last round from the American golfer Kevin Stadler which saw the Ryder Cup return to form in stunning fashion. However, it will not be easy for the Northern Irishman with the likes of Padraig Harrington, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry all confirming to participate in this year’s event.

But Graeme McDowell is confident that he will be able to do it and he feels a win here would kick start his faltering season as well that has seen him fail to win a title yet.

Dustin Johnson playing trade in Premier Gold Tour

Dustin Johnson is a professional golfer from the United States of America who is currently plying his trade with one of the premier golf tours in the world, the US PGA Tour.
Johnson is one of the longest drivers in the world at the moment and he was a constant present in the driving distance rankings of the US PGA Tour and ranked on that list for three consecutive seasons between 2009 and 2013.

Johnson has been a regular inside the top ten of the Official World Golf Rankings and has reached a career high ranking of fourth once in his career.

Born in South Carolina, Dustin Johnson played collegiate golf for Coastal Carolina University, winning the Northeast Amateur and the Monroe Invitation tournaments in 2007 and also played on the Walker Cup and Palmer Cup winning teams for the United States of America.

Johnson is the first professional player since Tiger Woods to win at least one tournament each year for the first seven years since coming out of college.

He turned professional in 2007 and earned his card for the US PGA Tour the following year. He won his first tournament as a professional towards the end of his first season when he clinched the Turning Stone Resort Championship. Johnson has had a successful career as a professional since then and things were looking very bright for him when, out of the blue, he announced in July 2014 that he was taking a sabbatical to deal with some personal challenges.

It soon emerged that Dustin Johnson was suspended by the US PGA for failing a drugs test for cocaine for the third time but that has been denied by the US PGA which said that he took a voluntary break from the sport and will be back in 2015.

Chamblee blasts Phil Mickelson for Watson comments

Brandel Chamblee has slammed veteran American golfer Phil Mickelson for his criticism of Tom Watson, the United States Ryder Cup skipper and even going on to call him a liar.
Chamblee is no stranger to controversy and he has regularly courted controversy for his outspoken criticism of players, especially Tiger Woods, but with the former world number one out of action till December, he has turned his attentions to Lefty.
It is a well-known fact that Mickelson blasted Watson in the press conference following the Ryder Cup which ended in yet another defeat for the United States team at the hands of Team Europe, claiming that the players had absolutely no say at all in the team decisions and going on to add that 2008 skipper Paul Azinger did a much better job as a skipper as he allowed the players to get involved and invested.
But Chamblee has now claimed that it is entirely a work of fiction from Phil Mickelson as he knows from reliable sources that Watson took the players and their caddies aside and asked them personally which players they would like to be paired with and so these comments made by Mickelson have no base value.
And according to Chamblee, this shows that in a way, Watson followed the same path that Azinger had followed in 2008. He admitted that Watson might not be the guy with the best bedside manners but as a golfer, there can be no doubting his honesty and integrity.
On the other hand, he laid the blame on the likes of Tiger Woods, who wasn’t even a part of the side, Phil Mickelson and the rest of the side, saying that Mickelson especially needed to own up after a string of losses for the United States team during a time he has been with the squad.
