Rickie Fowler To Pay Tribute To Idol Payne With Retro Styling

Rickie Fowler, who always dominates the headlines for his fashionable aura on the court is again back in news for his style statement but this time for a nobler reason- the 25 year old young golfer is all set to go retro at the US Open in the honor of his idol Stewart (Payne).

Pinehurst 2 is smeared with the great memory of the late golf star everywhere across and around the course. From the lively statue of the golfer at the back of eighteenth green to retrospectives of fifteenth anniversary of Stewart’s US Open triumph to 1st round attire of one among youngest of golfers- the star seems to be alive still.

Rickie has decided to don knockers accompanied by argyle socks in the first round of Thursday game in the honor of his much revered late golf idol.

He remarked that he was quite excited to put on Stewart’s style statement while playing at the court of the legend’s most memorable triumph. Stewart is hailed for his 2 US Open wins & one among these victories was witnessed at Pinehurst- which is the venue for 2014 US Open. Pinehurst remembers the iconic player with a grand bronze statue commemorating his famous first-pump 1999 celebrations.

“I am really eager to come up in his outfit. It is something that I have been planning to do for say a month. This is my style of recognizing the great man”, noted Fowler while speaking about his wonderful way of paying tribute to his idol. “He was one among my idols & a favorite.

The 25 year old golfer was just ten when Payne thrilled everybody with his dramatic US Open 1999 victory against Mickelson (Phil) at Pinehurst. Unfortunately, he met with an untimely death after some wins post the great win at 42 in a heartbreaking place accident.
